| Service Factor
The Pressure x Temperature or Service Factor is a good starting point in the selection of gaskets material. It is obtained by multiplying the pressure in psi by the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit and comparing the result with the values on the table below. If the value is more than 625,000, a metallic gasket must be selected.
The temperature limit and the P x T values cannot be taken as absolute values as with the increase of the operating temperature, the maximum operating pressure decreases.
